10. Is this school accredited?
No, we are not affiliated with any accreditation boards. However we do offer certificates of completion.
11. I want to be a vegan chef.
We are not a chef school and I, Angela Poch, am not a chef. That’s not to say I don’t have experience. I have worked as a cook in a restaurant, opening, prep, line cook, and closing, I did all the jobs and was given a raise over all the other cooks for my efficiency. But most of my knowledge is from self-study over 35 years of cooking semi-vegetarian and over 16 years cooking vegan. I aim to teach people how to cook so ANYONE will eat the food NOT just vegans! Many of my non-vegetarian friends and family love my cooking and request certain dishes, and that’s what I share with you in our courses.
Culinary schools MUST be attended in person so instructors can be sure you are learning the techniques adequately and you are properly examined to meet the standards for receiving the diploma/certification. There are some online versions but they either don’t certify you OR they require you all ready have your diploma or currently work in a restaurant. Costs range from anywhere from $30,000 to 50,000. IE: Le Cordon Blue, Canada has a diploma course for this $26,750, but a community college will be much cheaper and may offer a chef's course.
As a side note many working chefs do NOT attend school, especially to work in a vegan restaurant. To learn some of the skills of a chef visit this VERY informative website with video tutorials (It is not vegan nor am I associated with it, but he has techniques you would learn in chef school like knife and cutting board handling etc.): https://www.stellaculinary.com/ (Vegan restaurant owners know MOST of what you learn in chef school you will NOT use!!!)
The Vegan Vegetarian Cooking School is there to teach you how to cook healthy vegan dishes and explore an abundant life. As such, we'd had a few students take this course because they want to open or work in a Vegan restaurant. We are considering adding a 'restaurant' module because we are asked about this so often.
